Bernice M. (Lohman) Barrett age 90 passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Valley View Home in Glasgow, MT.
Bernice was born on June 28, 1927 in Marion, ND to Erma and Bennie Lohman as the oldest of 3 girls. Bernice graduated from Malta High School in 1946.
Bernice married Hank Morgan on November 28, 1946. He passed away from a fatal car accident on July 4, 1950.
Bernice married Bernard Boreson on March 25, 1952. They lived on the Boreson farm in Tampico, west of Glasgow. There they raised two boys, Bennie and Scott. They enjoyed visiting and celebrating with friends and neighbors through music, food and games. Bernard was diagnosed with cancer; Bernice and the boys took care of the cows, chickens and farming. Bernard passed away on February 5, 1976.
Bernice married Duane Barrett on April 10, 1981. They lived on the farm until November of 1987 when they moved to Glasgow. They enjoyed time with their family, playing cards and traveling the country together. Duane passed away on October 7, 2007.
Bernice belonged to the Valley County CowBells, VFW Auxiliary, Friends of the Pioneer Museum and the First Lutheran Church. She was the Clerk of School District #14, Tampico. Bernice was loyal to all those around her and enjoyed people, serving coffee or tea and cookies for anyone who came to visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents Erma and Bennie; stepfather, James Murphy; three husbands, Hank, Bernard and Duane; and sister, Betty Ohs.
Bernice is survived by her sister, Marilyn (Art) Wildhalm; children, Ben (Connie) Boreson and Scott (Myrtle) Boreson; four grandchildren, Brodie (Lindsey) Boreson, Bo (Crystal) Boreson, Jake (Shanda) Boreson and Emma (Andrew) Kuester; five great grandchildren, Sam, Brynlie, Bentley, Bree and Layla; and many nephews and nieces who will miss her.
Bernice’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, MT with Pastor Stan Hoobing officiating. A luncheon will follow services also at the First Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pioneer Museum, the First Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
