Donald J. Baker was enjoying a hunting trip in Mexico when he died unexpectedly of natural causes. Don was born in Glasgow, MT on April 25, 1942, graduated from Glasgow High School and received a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Montana State University. He traveled the world for the first year of his professional life with good friend and future partner Steve Erban. They came to St Paul, MN, established the architectural firm of B.E. Architects and designed churches throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. His company for the last couple of decades, DBA Architecture, is well known for many commercial and multi-family dwelling projects.
Don was very social and had friends around the globe with whom he kept in close contact through hunting trips, fishing expeditions and social visits. He never missed a chance to gather with family or friends and accepted many invitations to weddings, holidays and graduations in order to spend time with his wide circle of acquaintances. Don had a love of the outdoors and the results of his hunting were clearly evident in his trophy filled home which closely resembled a hunting lodge. He enjoyed lengthy visits with people of all ages from the youngest grandchild to the oldest relative.
