Eva Marie Stohl

March 10, 1924 — May 12, 2016

Eva Marie Stohl, 92, passed away May 12, 2016 at Valley View Home with loved ones at her side.

Eva was born on March 10, 1924 on their homestead in Tampico, Montana.  She was raised in Tampico with her siblings and parents Guillaume and Marie (Van Hamme) DeMessemaker.

In 1945, Eva married Irven Stohl of Nashua, Montana.  They moved to Hungry Horse, Montana and raised two daughters, Cynthia “Cyndie” and Nancy.  While their children were still young, they moved back to Nashua.  They later divorced, and Eva remained in Nashua for many years before moving to Glasgow.  She resided at Valley View Home for over eleven years.

Eva loved puttering outside with flowers in her garden, and also enjoyed boating and catching the biggest fish.  She worked on many crafts and delighted in playing cards, bingo and bridge with the ladies of her community.  She took pride in having women come to her home where she offered perms and haircuts, and also worked for the Glasgow Credit Bureau and Glasgow Flower Shop where she created beautiful arrangements. Eva was a member of the Garden Club and Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Nashua.  She enjoyed telling the story about her father and surviving his journey on the Titanic.

Eva is survived by her two daughters Cyndie (Don) Sonsteng of Butte, and Nancy (Sam) Ohlson of Fort Peck;  grandchildren Gina (John) Christie, Kathy (Mike) McGrath, Beth (Mark) Salusso all of Butte, Tracie (Daryl) Moats of Great Falls, Zac Ohlson of Glasgow and Greg Ohlson of Billings; great-grandchildren Kyle Christie, Sidney Christie, Derek McGrath, Kole McGrath, Brooke McGrath, Franki Salusso, Berkli Salusso, Sawyer Salusso all of Butte, Darby Moats of Great Falls; great-great grandchild Axton McGrath of Butte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Guillaume and Marie; brother Bill and sister-in-law Joyce DeMessemaker; sister Rachael and brother-in-law Tom Pugh, sister Esther and brother-in-law Bob Nelson; and nephews Donnie DeMessemaker and Thomas Pugh III.
