Issella L. Cook passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 11 th , 2017.
She was raised in New Deal, Wheeler and on the farm south of Glasgow. She attended Borton County School for 1 st grade and completed her education in the Glasgow Schools, graduating in May of 1955. One week after beginning her senior year she began working part time at the First National Bank. She continued working for the bank until her retirement in 1999. She worked various departments and had thorough knowledge of bank operations. In January of 1973 she was appointed auditor. She was a loyal and dedicated employee and officer for 44 ½ years. Issella was also the main “Book Keeper” and “whip cracker” for Glenn and then Doug at Glenn’s Automotive Repair. Keeping them in “tow” from 1985 until the time of her death.
Issella married Glenn Cook of Sharples, WV on May 14, 1959. They had two sons, Richard and Douglas.
She was a member of the Congregational Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on many church boards. She was a soroptimist member for 26 years serving two terms as president. She also served on the organization boards and board of directors several times.
She had many interests. Camping with her family was a favorite activity. Issella and Glenn started camping when their sons were young and continued until Glenn’s health failed. She was an avid reader. Instilling her love of books in her children and grandchildren. Music was very important to her and she took time very day to listen to her records, CD’s and DVD’s. She enjoyed needle point, crewl embroidery, crossword puzzles; especially diagramless, puzzles, playing board games and any card game. Every morning she read the paper and worked the crosswords while having her cup of coffee.
She always had a cat or two. She said they are independent and intelligent. Both good qualities, she was glad these pets let her live with them in their home. If you’ve ever had cats you will understand.
Her friends were an important part of her life. After Issella retired, she began taking Motor Coach tours with a friend or two. She often went on trips and traveled together with five or six of her fellow classmates. Family meant everything to her; especially her daughter-in-law’s; Kim and Rhoda. They were the daughters she never had. Her children and grandchildren were the joys of her life.
Issella was an amazing baker. She made all of the pies for holiday dinners, always making sure everyone had their favorite. Sometimes making as many as 12-14 different types.
She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Issella was preceded in death by her husband of 47 ½ years, Glenn Cook. She is survived by son, Richard Cook (Rhoda Lake) of Laurel, MT; Richard’s sons, Jesse Cook and Justin Cook both of Glasgow; son, Doug Cook (Kim DeBeau) of Park Grove; Doug’s children, Jory Cook (Cortney Kautz) of Park Grove, Jory’s two children Jordan Cook and Meranda Bechal both of Glasgow; Shandy Stingley (Mike “Fuzz” Stingley) of Nashua and Ali Cook (Jaime Riseden) of Great Falls, MT. Her special niece Tracy Grimm of Glasgow and all her friends.
A visitation will be Tuesday, March 14 th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, MT. Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 15 th , 2017 at the Congregational Church in Glasgow, MT. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Glasgow, MT.
