Miles D. “Bud” Geer 96 Of Glasgow Montana

September 18, 1921 — January 8, 2018

Miles “Bud” Geer was born the first of twins at home near New London, Minnesota on September 18, 1921 to Henry and Jennie (Price) Geer.  At the age of 13, Bud and his family moved from the Minnesota farm to Park Grove, Montana where his father worked for the Army Corp of Engineers building the Fort Peck Dam; while Bud delivered newspapers and did other small odd jobs.  After he graduated from Nashua High School in 1939 he worked on the Nefzger Ranch in Vida, Montana.

On November 12, 1944 Bud married Mildred Habeck in Hingham, Montana and they made their home in Nashua, Montana.  In 1948 the family moved 12 miles North of Nashua to the farmstead known as the “Geer Place”.

In the early 1960’s Bud began tinkering in the Rodeo Stock business.  By 1971 Bud had a sizable rodeo stock and became a stock contractor himself.  Geer Rodeo Company furnished stock to rodeos throughout Montana.

Bud always enjoyed watching rodeos in his later years, never losing his touch on what a horse was going to do coming out of the chute.  With a sparkle of humor in his eye he could be found telling a story that kept everyone laughing or sitting at a table playing cards with friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Jennie; wife, Millie; son Jeff; daughter-in-law, Pam; grandson, Dru; sister-in-law, Theda; twin sister, Merridith “Sis” Kummerfeldt; and followed by his brother John “Jack” Geer later that day.

Bud is survived by his children Bob (Ferna) Geer, Dan (Patty) Geer, Zane (Dixie) Geer, Shelley Geer, Joel Geer; grandchildren Zane, Tammy, Matthew, Callin, Doni, Tanner, Lindsey, Jason, Justin, Jake, Jessie, Tara, Ryan, Autumn, and Amber; great-grandchildren Wally, Miles, Dawsyn, Owen, Cody, Tommy, Katy, Sam, Amanda, Kat, Allan, Kayla, Logann, Quinn, Buddy, Rowan, and Aadn; great-great-grandchild, Craig; and nieces and nephews Karen (Will) Taylor, Kurt (Tammy) Kummerfeldt,  Charlene Schlotte, Diane (Pete) Nagel, Beverly (Jerry) Freeman, Laurie McConnell, Monte (Lonnie) Geer, Mary (Dave) Jensen and Chuck (June) Geer.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Evangelical Church in Glasgow with Tom Fauth officiating.  Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will be at the Elks in Glasgow.  Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
